Betty Faria generates controversy after linking Rio de Janeiro robbers to Bolsa Família

Actress Betty Faria became one of the most discussed topics on social media this Thursday (7), after sharing on X (formerly Twitter) news about a raid in Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro. The eternal 'Tieta' linked the beneficiaries of the federal government's Bolsa Família program with crime, resulting in criticism on the internet.

The actress made controversial comments, stating that the criminals are 'the children of Bolsa Família who did not use birth control', when sharing a video from the newspaper O Globo on the social network.

Betty commented on the robbery on Arpoador beach, citing the Bolsa Família children and suggesting a lack of birth control. The actress' statement provoked criticism on social media, accusing her of being elitist. Comments such as “what a disappointment”, “stupid and ridiculous” were directed at the artist, even suggesting an association with fascist ideas on the part of the actress.

Due to the controversy, several profiles highlighted the importance of the social program in lifting Brazilians out of extreme poverty. “How do you write such barbarity in a country of hungry people?”, wrote one internet user. Another questioned, “For those who criticized Regina Duarte, you're not much different, huh?!”.

Son's past

After the criticism, some users brought up news about Betty Faria's son, Daniel Filho, who was investigated for drug trafficking. “Does your drug dealer son receive Bolsa Família?”, teased a profile. Another comment related, “What a disappointment. Now everything makes sense… your daughter can't stand you and your other son is lost”making reference to the actress's public dispute with her daughter Alexandra Marzo, who previously called her Betty a sociopath in an interview.

It is not the first time

When it comes to controversies, Betty Faria is no stranger to social media. In October 2022, the actress criticized Damares Alves, former minister of Women, Family and Human Rights under Jair Bolsonaro. “Do you think DAMARES is a bit of a pervert? There's always a lot of angry talk about sex, etc., etc. Wow!!!”, he wrote. At the time, his words provoked furious reactions from Bolsonarists.

On the occasion, Betty Faria expressed criticism of Damares Alves, mentioning the alleged cases of child exploitation in Pará, discussed by the former minister during an evangelical service.
