Ana Hickmann publicizes event in São Paulo on violence against women

This Friday (8), presenter and model Ana Hickmann used social media to publicize the event “Walk for the End of Violence Against Women and Girls” which should take place next Sunday (10) on Avenida Paulista, in São Paulo, whose objective is to raise awareness among the population about domestic violence imposed on women and girls in the country.

Since the fateful episode reported by the model, also on social media, committed by her then husband Alexandre Correa, Ana has been active in the cause of domestic violence, encouraging other women to follow her example by reporting physical and psychological attacks, inflicted on her by the now ex-husband.

After being treated at Hospital Santa Casa de Itu, the presenter was escorted to the police station where she opened a police report. According to the document and the artist's report that became known on November 11, Alexandre pushed her against the wall and threatened to headbutt her in a heated argument about the ex-couple's financial situation. Ana managed to escape the action and tried to contact the police.

Upon gaining access to the phone, the businessman, to stop her, closed the door against his ex-wife's left arm, which was injured. When public security agents arrived, Alexandre was no longer at the residence.

Afterwards, Hickmann filed a request for divorce – which was denied by the Court and passed on to the Family Court, as it was “of highly complex and specialized issues, which go beyond the limits and parameters limited to criminal jurisdiction or related to the rite of expediting cases involving domestic and family violence against women”. Furthermore, Ana also requested a protective measure against Alexandre, who according to the presenter, has repeatedly surrounded the property, carrying a firearm.

Last week, however, the businessman's lawyer stated that his client had withdrawn from the case: “We asked for the divorce process to be withdrawn and it was dismissed. It was Alexandre's will, he withdrew from the process […] So, to avoid having so much process, so much demand, only Ana’s action will remain.”explains.

In her most recent Instagram post, Ana posted a video alongside her son, Alexandre, aged eight, and Joaquim, one of the model's pet dogs, who attacked her ex-husband after witnessing the attack: “Say 'good morning', Joaquim! We're all here at breakfast, Alezinho is still sleeping a little, he's a little 'sleepy'. Mom looks like a crumpled face. Yes, the days have been quite long, a lot work, but I have to say that this was a good week. An important week, I'm very happy”she finishes.
