from the Met Gala to the hands of fashionistas

Gloves left the trunk for the catwalks, arrived on the red carpet of the famous Met Gala by the singer’s hands Anita and went straight into the hands of the fashionistas on duty. Despite not being a piece just to be worn in winter, the cold is coming and will this fashion catch on here in Brazil?

Women’s gloves have been an important part of fashion since the 18th century, when they were first used as an elegant accessory to complement formal wear. Since then, gloves have evolved in style and shape, reflecting fashion trends and changes in society.

Recently, women’s gloves have come out of the trunk and are on the rise in fashion, especially in winter looks and formal occasions. Black leather gloves, with long, narrow fingers, have been one of the most popular styles, recalling the classic, elegant look of the 1950s and 1960s.

However, fashion for women’s gloves is not just limited to the classic style. Many designers have been daring in their creations, using innovative fabrics and materials and adding interesting details such as embroidery, lace and rhinestones.

For the founder and stylist of A.ROLÊ, Luiza Gil — the brand that produces the timeless piece, since 2018 — for her the gloves are a “an extremely democratic item, without size or distinction. Therefore, I do believe in the massification of this element, which, in order to be adapted to our tropical reality, can be made in tulle, lycra and light fabrics as ours are.”

I like to create pieces that value and reinforce the silhouette of the human body. The pieces with built-in gloves, covering the whole body, were born from this desire to celebrate the beautiful, our body in its complete form with the perfect anatomy – whether short, tall, thin or fat”completes Luiza.
