Inter defeats the undefeated Benfica: Check out the post game

Inter de Milan won the match against Benfica, 2-0, this Tuesday (11), at Estádio da Luz, in the first leg of the Champions League quarterfinals. Even with all the press pointing out the favoritism of the Portuguese club, the Italians showed all the determination and overcoming and took the advantage for the decisive game, and could even lose by a goal difference in the next game, which will guarantee their place in the semifinal of the competition.

Benfica having the best attack in the competition and being one of the only undefeated players in the competition, entered the field as the great favorite of the match. But the pressured Internazionale de Milan showed that favoritism is not always decisive for the result of a match. The Italians took 12 shots towards the goal, hitting the goal twice in the last shot of the game. If on the one hand there was a lack of creativity and the will to win, on the Italian side there was discipline and tactical command, from a team that came in under pressure and came for all or nothing, in search of redemption, a breather in the main competition in Europe.

Inter started to dominate starting and going over the opponent, and with the arrivals of Lukaku and Corrêa, they gave a new tone to the match. At 35 minutes of the second stage, VAR indicated a touch on João Mário’s left hand. The Inter striker ran to the penalty spot and set the score for the match by 2-0.
