Manchester United vs Sevilla: check schedule, where to watch and likely lineups
In a game valid for the first leg of the UEFA Europa League quarter-finals, Manchester United will host Sevilla this Thursday (13), at Old Trafford, at 4 pm (Brasília time). The match will be broadcast exclusively on Star+.
United took a “Spanish” path in the knockout stages of the Europa League. The ‘Red Devils’ finished second in their group behind Real Sociedad before knocking out Barcelona in the knockout stage.
Then, they beat Real Betis in the round of 16 of the second most important competition on the Old Continent with a 5-1 lead on aggregate, advancing to meet again with another La Liga team.
On the other hand, Sevilla also participated in the knockout playoffs, where they beat PSV Eindhoven by 3-2 on the overall sum. However, the Spanish side entered the competition after finishing third in their UEFA Champions League group.
In the Europa League, the “Rojiblancos” left Fenerbahce on the way and qualified for the quarterfinals of the tournament, beating the Turkish team by 2-1 on aggregate. Despite this, poor performances in the Spanish Championship left Sevilla in 18th place, which culminated in the dismissal of coach Jorge Sampaoli.
For this Thursday’s duel, Manchester United will have some important absences, including top scorer Marcus Rashford, author of 28 goals in 47 games. Top scorer in the Europa League, the striker will be out of the first leg due to a muscle injury.
Meanwhile, Sevilla will have practically the entire squad available to coach José Luís Mendilibar, who took over after Sampaoli’s fall. Full-back Acuña, world champion with the Argentina national team in Qatar, should be in the starting line-up in place of Alex Telles.
Check out the probable lineups:
Manchester United: From Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Varane, Lisandro Martinez, Malacia; Casemiro, McTominay; Antony, Bruno Fernandes, Sancho; Martial. Technician: Erik ten Hag.
Seville: Bounou; Montiel, Badé, Marcao, Acuña; Fernando, Gudelj; Ocampos, Rakitic and Gil; En-Nesyri. Technician: José Luis Mendilibar.
