Melissa Schuman alleges sexual abuse and assault against Backstreet Boys member Nick Carter

In November 2017, 38-year-old Melissa Schuman openly accused 43-year-old Backstreet Boys singer Nick Carter of sexual abuse and assault, at the time Melissa was 18 and Nick was 22.

In the diligence dated April 11, 2002 in Santa Monica, California, the singer alleged that Nick would have forcefully performed oral sex on her and he would have forced her to do the same with him and finally raped her.

At that time, Melissa was part of the girl band Dream and reveals that she was a virgin when it all happened, according to the documents obtained by the TMZ, Melissa denounced that she lost her virginity to him without his authorization. The singer claimed Carter was told she had aspirations to save herself for marriage, but Schuman was completely ignored.

In February 2018, the artist filed a police report with the Los Angeles County, but at the time the process was refused, as the statute of limitations would have expired. She cited that the Harvey Weinstein accusations were “kitten” which motivated him to report the incident.

Carter for his part has denied all allegations, suing Schuman earlier this year for $2.3 million in extortion. Nick’s defense announced his client’s innocence in Melissa’s case.

“Melissa Schuman has been spreading this story for many years now, but her claim was fake when she first did it in 2017 – and it still is. A judge in Nevada recently ruled, after reviewing the extensive evidence we have presented, that there is strong reason for Nick Carter to pursue his case against Ms. Schuman for conspiring to harm, defame and extort Nick, his associates, his friends and his family.” Nick’s lawyer, Liane K. Wakayama told the TMZ

This would not be the first time that the singer has been accused of sexual abuse, according to Shannon Ruth, who would have made the same accusation of sexual assault on a tour bus.
