What specialists in the musical world presume is that a good part of this percentage goes to Universal Music Publishing, which is currently the copyright holder of the entire catalog of songs by the English star. It is estimated that the agreement made by the founder of one of the most famous pop rock bands in the world, and by the leading company in the music industry, is worth around $ 350 million, more than 1.1 billion reais.

However, while the terms of the deal were not disclosed, it seems likely that Sting retained at least some of the music and substantial publishing and/or composer shares in the back catalogue. According to Variety magazine, what would have irritated Sting at the time was the fact that his name was not credited in the rapper’s song, which was at the top of the most played at the time.
