José Mayer is released from hospital and denies rumors

he thanks fans for their love and informs that he was hospitalized because of a relapse, the actor suffers from granulomatosis with polyangiitis, a disease that causes inflammation in blood vessels.

“I was hospitalized again on March 17 so that, with the guidance of the medical team that has been with me since the beginning, I could withdraw the strong medication that started in February”said the artist.

In sequence he denies the rumor that he had been hospitalized because of a psychotic break. “I did not have any diagnosis of psychotic break as it was conveyed”, he continued by thanking the doctors and health professionals who attended to him. Still in the statement, he thanked the press that was ready to report the official information that was released by the actor’s advisory.

“The nefarious and pernicious media… doesn’t even deserve a response”he said about the media that spread untrue information about his hospitalization, something that was soon clarified by his advisor.

The actor, who started his television career in 1977, had his 35-year contract with Rede Globo terminated in 2019, shortly after he was accused of sexually abusing one of Globo’s costume designers who worked on the soap opera “A lei do amor”, which aired in 2017. Jose Mayer apologized for his macho attitude, but was soon removed from the production after the repercussions of the case, since then, the artist has been living in Itaipava, in the Serrana region of Rio de Janeiro, with his wife Vera Fajardo , they have been married since 1975.
