Sources confirm that Nintendo Switch 2 will be released in 2025

Nintendo Switch 2 only in 2025. This information comes from Brazilian journalist Pedro Henrique Lutti Lippe, who shared in a recent video that he obtained the information from five different sources.

According to these sources, games planned for the first quarter of 2025 are also in development, to be launched simultaneously with the console itself, which internally had its release date postponed from a previous target of 2024.

Other sources also indicated to the VGC website who were working on games aimed at the Switch 2, scheduled for release early next year. However, they were unable to confirm whether this would imply a later launch than expected for the console itself.

Although Nintendo has yet to make any public comments on the matter, there was widespread expectation that the successor to Nintendo Switch would be released later this year.

Furukawa emphasized that the current version of the Nintendo Switch would be the company's “main activity” until 2024. He stated that the company's plans for the next fiscal year will be shared during the next earnings meeting, scheduled for May.

Nintendo's next fiscal year extends until April 2025, which opens up the possibility of a console launch even if it has been postponed until 2025.

Dr. Serkan Toto, CEO of Kantan Games, a Tokyo-based gaming consultancy, recently projected that Nintendo's new console could launch for $400 — $100 more than the Switch's launch price. He also suggested that games for the new console could adopt a $70 price tag, like many PS5 and Xbox Series X/S titles.

According to Toto, Nintendo's next console will maintain portable functionality, as reported by VGC last year.
