Prince Andrew sexual assault case
Virginia Giuffre accuses Prince Andrew of sexually assaulting her when she was 17. The youngest son of the Queen of England, now stripped of all his military titles, could face a civil trial next fall.
Who is the one who is crumbling the golds of the British crown against the backdrop of a sex scandal?
Virginia Giuffre emerged from the shadows for the first time in March 2011, in an interview with the British newspaper Daily Mail . She recounts having been sexually exploited by the Epstein-Maxwell couple, evoking Prince Andrew for the first time. At this time, she does not officially accuse him of sexual assault or rape.
According to her, her meeting with Ghislaine Maxwell took place in the summer of 2000, at the age of 16, during a summer job at the Mar-a-Lago residence, owned by Donald Trump in Florida. The daughter of the English press magnate would have baited her by telling her about a rich man who was looking for a masseuse. But once at the residence of Jeffrey Epstein, still in Florida, the massages take a sexual turn.

In a story similar to other victims, Virginia Giuffre explains that she was too fragile to oppose, she who had already been the victim of sexual abuse and run away several times in her childhood.
“I had been abused so many times before Epstein did to me what he did to me. I had no self-esteem . I was the perfect victim for them” , says- she in a Netflix documentary (“Jeffrey Epstein, Filthy Rich”).
According to her account, it was in 2002 that she was able to flee to Thailand. Now 38 years old, she now lives in Australia where she founded a family as well as a support association for victims of sexual assault and trafficking ( “Speak out, Act, Reclaim” ).
Virginia’s “I accuse” against Prince Andrew
It was not until the summer of 2021 that Virginia Giuffre decided to file a civil complaint in a New York court to seek compensation. She accuses the prince of sexual assault when she was 17, in London, New York, and on the private island of Jeffrey Epstein, in the American Virgin Islands.
A review of her complaint revealed a 2009 settlement, in which she compromised with Epstein not to prosecute him and “other potential defendants” for $500,000.
In 2015, the prince and Buckingham Palace had to publicly deny accusations that he had sex with a woman who appears anonymously in legal proceedings, and who turns out to be Virginia Giuffre.
In the summer of 2019, an American judge ordered the publication of thousands of court documents on the sidelines of a defamation action brought by the young woman against Ghislaine Maxwell. The American accuses Epstein and Maxwell in particular of having delivered her to some of their powerful friends to take advantage of her sexually. She names several personalities, including Prince Andrew, who all vigorously deny.
The day after the publication of the documents, Jeffrey Epstein was found dead hanged in the cell of the federal prison in Manhattan where he is incarcerated. The official inquest ruled it a suicide, but the confluence of events has fueled theories that Epstein died so he wouldn’t speak.

Absent at the Maxwell trial
At the trial of Ghislaine Maxwell in Manhattan federal court in December, the prosecution called four victims but not Virginia Giuffre, which raised questions as her name was mentioned during the proceedings. It appeared that the young woman had flown 32 times with Epstein, between the end of the 1990s and the beginning of the 2000s. Including a Tangier-Luton flight in March 2001, where she places her first meeting with the prince andrew.
As for one of the victims, who testified under the first name “Carolyn”, she said she was only 14 years old when a friend of hers, Virginia Giuffre, took her to the residence for the first time. from Epstein to Palm Beach. In the Daily Mail, she confided under her name Carolyn Andriano that Virginia Giuffre confided to her that she had “slept with” Prince Andrew in 2001.
What legal consequences for Prince Andrew?
What awaits Prince Andrew after the New York court rejects his appeal against Virginia Giuffre’s civil complaint?
For lawyers interviewed by AFP, if the second son of Queen Elizabeth II does not find a financial agreement with the complainant, he will be tried in civil court with a minimal risk for him of a criminal trial.
Following the decision of the judge of the federal court of Manhattan Lewis Kaplan, the lawyers of the British prince can appeal. They even theoretically have the possibility of appealing to the Supreme Court of the United States, but experts doubt that the procedure will go that far.
If all of Andrew’s appeals are dismissed, a civil trial could then be held “between September and December” of this year, Judge Kaplan said in the fall of 2021. In this case, the Duke of York, who “categorically” rejects the accusations of Virginia Giuffre, will have to give a sworn statement in the office of a lawyer, probably in the United Kingdom, and answer questions from American advice from the complainant.
The complaint filed against him cannot be converted into a criminal prosecution for sex crimes. But nothing prevents US prosecutors in the future from initiating criminal proceedings against Andrew if they believe that he may indeed have committed a crime.
Prince Andrew reaches an agreement with Virginia Giuffre
Prince Andrew, the second son of Queen Elizabeth II of England, has reached a financial settlement with American Virginia Giuffre, who accused him of sexually assaulting her in 2001 when she was a teenager, revealed on Tuesday , a court document.
A financial agreement has been reached between Prince Andrew and Virginia Giuffre , who accuses him of sexual assault. The second son of Queen Elizabeth II of England will make a “significant donation” to the association for the support of victims of sexual violence led by her American accuser, the plaintiff’s lawyers said on Tuesday February 15 in a document. judicial
Virginia Giuffre had filed a complaint last August against Prince Andrew, accusing him of having forced her, more than twenty years ago, to have sex at the London home of Ghislaine Maxwell, ex-associate of Jeffrey Epstein, then of sexually assaulting her twice at Epstein residences. Lawyers for both parties indicated in the document that a financial agreement had been reached – without disclosing the amount.
Prince Andrew “never intended to damage the legal person of Madame Giuffre and he recognizes the suffering she has experienced both as a victim of abuse and public attack”, is -he writes in the document.
“Prince Andrew regrets his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein and praises the courage of Madame Giuffre and the other survivors. He undertakes to prove his remorse by supporting the fight against sex trafficking and its victims”, is it further specified.
On The Second, Virginia Giuffre’s ex-boyfriend speaks out and atomizes Elizabeth 2nd son
The sentencing of Ghislaine Maxwell last week has worsened Prince Andrew’s already tense situation. It is indeed this January 4 that he will know if the complaint filed against him by Virginia Giuffre will give rise to a trial. And what the Duke of York did not need was the surprise testimony of the plaintiff’s ex-boyfriend, which incriminates her.
It’s a new bad surprise and a blow for Prince Andrew . On January 2, Anthony Figueroa, 39, former boyfriend of Virginia Giuffre, made revelations about the prince, and they are not at all in the direction that the latter could have hoped for . In the Sunday Mirror the man gave testimony which – if proven to be correct – sinks the Duke of York .
A testimony which falls could not be more badly for the son of Elizabeth II who awaits for tomorrow – January 4 – the decision of judge Lewis Kaplan . The latter will indeed then have to announce whether the complaint of the young woman filed in August– and who accuses the father of princesses Beatrice and Eugenie of sexual assault – is admissible, and whether or not it should lead to a trial.
In his testimony Anthony Figueroa indicates that at the material time he was dating Virginia Giuffre, whom he met in high school. He says he thought her role with Jeffrey Epstein was that of a masseuse . The young woman would have told him that she was “ frightened ” by what the sulphurous businessman and his companion Ghislaine Maxwell wanted her to do with Prince Andrew. ” I remember the first time Virginia mentioned him in 2001. She knew she would meet him and said she knew what they wanted her to do with him and she didn’t want him . To do” he said in the columns of the British tabloid.
” That’s what caused the end of our story”
In 2001 the young couple lived in Palm Beach, Florida, where the residence – now destroyed – of Jeffrey Epstein was located, and in which many young women would have been subjected to a sad fate. For Anthony Figueroa Ghislaine Maxwell and Epstein would have manipulated his young companion pushing her to do unacceptable things.
He remembers in particular that the young woman flew aboard the Lolita Express towards the island of Little Saint James and that she disappeared for two weeks.
But if he does not hesitate to charge Maxwell and Epstein, he is not tender with the ex-husband of Sarah Ferguson.
Virginia Giuffre accuses Prince Andrew of sexual assault
According to him, he is responsible for the break-up of the young couple, and affirms that he cannot look at the photo on which Virginia Giuffre with the Duke of York without a hint of anger. He told the Mirror : ” I didn’t see the picture of her with Andrew until after we split. It still pains me to think about it because from the moment she came back from this stay, things were different. That’s what caused the end of our story.”
Anthony Figueroa claims to no longer have any relationship with his ex-girlfriend but claims to be proud of his action. The one who is now based in Atlanta, Georgia believes that Andrew’s royal status does not allow him any privileges ” Andrew must be questioned by the authorities here, and he must answer in court.”
