76ers beat Celtics to move one win away from standings

This Tuesday (9), the Philadelphia 76ers defeated the Boston Celtics by 115 to 103, at TD Garden, and now need just one more victory to qualify for the NBA East Conference Finals.

The match was a complete domination in favor of the 76ers, who did not let Boston breathe at any point in the game. The last time Boston had the lead in the match, it was 4 minutes into the game, when it opened 10 to 8. From that moment, until the end of the match, Philadelphia gave the cards and did not let the advantage built fall. In the fourth quarter, they reached 21 points, even generating a certain boo from the fans towards the team before the end of the game.

The main highlight of the match is certainly the current MVP, Joel Embiid, who scored 33 points, reaching the third consecutive game with at least 30 points. In addition to him, Tyrese Maxey, had his best game in that series, scoring 30 points, hitting a total of 6 three-point balls, leading all players in the match in that regard. James Harden also had a good start, almost scoring a triple-double, with 17 points, 10 assists and 8 rebounds.

On the side of the Celtics, who stood out again was Jayson Tatum, who ended the match as the scorer, scoring 36 points, in addition to grabbing 10 rebounds. Jaylen Brown also participated a lot in the game, with his 24 points.

Embiid and Maxey started the match in a different rotation than the others, comfortable in the game and both ended the first quarter with 11 points. Boston managed to balance the match at the beginning, it was ahead in the beginning, but when it lost its advantage, it was not able to come back. Despite this, Celtics still sketched a reaction halfway to the end of the quarter, even cutting the difference to just five points, thanks to Jayson Tatum, putting the ball under his arm and trying to carry the team.

Here was where the game was pretty much set. Embiid, Harden and Maxey combined for 22 points of the team’s 30, utterly dominating the opposition. The team even opened a 19-point difference, and took the game into the fourth quarter with an advantage of 16, which just wasn’t bigger, because Tatum scored 16 points alone. The rest of the team in the period scored 7 points, 5 from Brown and 2 from Robert Williams. With the exception of Tatum, the other players didn’t hit anything.

That’s when the 76ers opened 21 points ahead. Embiid only played 5 minutes, just to confirm the victory. As well as Tatum for the Celtics side, who played for less than 7 minutes.

The match will take place this Thursday (11), at Wells Fargo Arena, home of the Philadelphia 76ers. If they win, the 76ers will eliminate Boston, and guarantee a spot in the Eastern Conference Finals. If you give Boston, the Celtics will force Game 7, which will be played in their domains.
