Asus announces ROG Ally, its first portable console with Windows 11

Asus Republic of Gamers (ROG) has announced the ROG Ally, Asus’ new portable console. The device has Windows 11 platform and is powered by an AMD Ryzen Z1 processor.

With a touchscreen, which has “incredible levels of brightness and refresh rate”, the ROG Ally promises to deliver performance in both AAA games and indie games.

The 120Hz, Full HD (1080p) screen, with FreeSync support and peak brightness of up to 500 nits, will come with the premise of allowing gamers to get a clear experience, even in outdoor environments. The laptop also features an ergonomic design and is extremely lightweight, weighing just 608 grams.

The ROG Ally global launch event will take place on May 11th at 11:00 am ET and can be followed on the official website. On this occasion, it is expected that the price of the device will be revealed.

Featuring an all-new AMD Ryzen Z1 series processor with RDNA 3 graphics, ROG Ally is poised to deliver unprecedented levels of portable gaming experience. For both players who prefer AAA titles and those who like indie games, Ally allows for a complete high-performance experience. To further enhance this performance, the laptop features ROG’s Zero Gravity thermal cooling system, which uses two ultra-thin finned fans and high-friction heatsinks, keeping Ally cool in any orientation.
Performance in heavy games requires a screen compatible with the processing power of this device. ROG Ally is equipped with a 120 Hz, Full HD (1080p) screen, with FreeSyncTM Premium support and allows for high clarity of movements, without stuttering and without drops in FPS, even in the most accelerated games. The screen still has a peak brightness of up to 500 nits, allowing for high gaming performance even outdoors. This touchscreen allows for seamless Windows navigation and ensures it’s easy to change settings and install your next game.

ROG Ally runs on Windows 11, which means gamers will be able to access all of their game libraries and available streaming services, all on one device. No matter where the latest and greatest titles are available, Ally can lead gamers to victory. To navigate in Windows, the user can use Ally’s joysticks and buttons or the touch screen.

Additionally, a special edition Armory Crate debuts on the new device, further enhancing the experience. The user can now enjoy new performance modes, a special game launcher, monitoring software and much more. Ally even offers a 90-day trial package of XBox Game Pass Ultimate, allowing access to hundreds of games from Xbox Game Studios, independent studios and other hit games.
