Even before the fever for instagrammable environments, Karl Lagerfeld already brought in his baggage the tradition of emblematic settings for his shows at Chanel. At the head of the fashion house for almost three decades, kaiser, as he was called, created scenarios that ranged from snow to the beach, from futurism to the apocalypse. This year, the Met Gala, an event that takes place this Monday (01), in New York, honors the designer. Check out the scenarios that went down in history below:
tweed jacket

The year was 2008. The summer haute couture show took place around a giant tweed jacket, set up on top of the round runway, where models entered and exited changing looks.

The setting paid homage especially to the piece, central to the history of Chanel.

Closing the season in 2008, the show was held in South Beach, Miami, with high temperatures in the Cruise collection.

For the winter of 2013, Lagerfeld used the description “On the way from the Old World to the New World” and transformed the Grand Palais into an apocalyptic theater.
