A shooting at a university in the Russian city of Perm on Monday morning left eight dead and fourteen wounded. Video footage shows people jumping out of windows to escape from the building. Students and teachers locked themselves in classrooms, according to Russian media
According to The Perm State National Research University, a person opened fire on the street around 11:00 a.m. (local time). The university has cancelled all classes.

The gunman is in a hospital with injuries, authorities report. The university previously reported that the suspect had been killed. The perpetrator’s firearm was allegedly found. The suspect is said to be an eighteen-year-old student of the university. No statements have been made about his motive.
The university has shared a post that the suspected gunman, a certain Timur Bekumansurov, has posted on social media. “Anger overwhelms me. I want to destroy everything in my path, leave as much pain as possible in this world. Those I can’t kill will remember this day forever,” it reads.
