Learn all about Renato Augusto’s new injury at Corinthians

Renato Augusto’s exam came out. The athlete felt his calf, in a game against Cuiabá, last Saturday (10), and left the field with only 20 minutes of play. Before, the player had stayed almost two months out for a knee arthroscopy. On the same day that Renato reported the problem, the Corinthians board, through Alessandro Nunes, a former athlete for Timão and now a football manager, indicated that the club was aware of the injury and made this unsuccessful attempt to recruit the athlete, to see how it behaved, at least in the first stage.

The player’s injury statistic comes from times. In 2009, when he was playing for Bayern Leverkusen, Renato accumulated several types of injuries, such as biceps, foot, muscles, overload stress, hip and knee. In the short one-year stint in Chinese football, he had a lot of foot problems. One of the athlete’s trademarks was drawn on his face. In a serious injury, playing for Flamengo in the 2008 Carioca Championship, Renato underwent a malar operation and insertion of titanium plates on his face, originating the scars that the athlete currently has.

The injury found that week was the same one that took Renato off the pitch in Germany in 2009. The midfielder turned 35 in February and started playing professional football for Flamengo in 2005. Repatriated from German football in 2013, by Corinthians, after five years, this is the second cycle of the athlete, for Timão. He debuted for the Brazilian national team, under the command of Mano Menezes in 2011, but was better used four years later, in the Dunga era, in addition to playing in the 2018 World Cup, in Russia, where he scored the goal for Brazil against Belgium, in the quarterfinals – where he was eliminated by 2 to 1.

Corinthians’ next commitment will be on June 21, in the classic against Santos, away from home, in Vila Belmiro, for the Brasileirão. It is very likely that Timão will not be able to count on Renato in this match.
