Louis Tomlinson, former member of One Direction, announces concert in Brazil in 2024

This Tuesday (8), journalist José Norberto Flesch announced that former One Direction member, Louis Tomlinson, will come to Brazil in May 2024. However, locations and dates have not yet been announced.

One Direction only came to Brazil once. With shows in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, the band brought the tour ''Where We Are Tour”, this being the last time that Louis Tomlinson set foot on Brazilian territory.

Zayn Malik's departure

On March 25, 2015, One Direction announced the departure of one of its members, Zayn Malik. According to him, the main reason for leaving was his desire to be ''a normal guy'' aged 22, who would be able to not only relax, but also have privacy, staying out of the spotlight.

Zayn's departure was amicable, and included thanks to his partners during those long years on stage: ''(…) I know I have four friends in Louis, Liam, Harry and Niall. I know they will continue to be the best band in the world'', he said in an official statement at the time.

In response to Malik, the members said, also grateful for the time they were together: ''We are very sad to see Zayn leave, but we completely respect his decision, and send all our love to him in the future. The last five years have been beyond amazing, we've been through so much together, so let's always be friends''.

Furthermore, the band's manager and producer, Simon Cowell, also expressed his thanks. Recounting that he met him in 2010, Cowell confessed to being very proud of him, admitting sadness at his departure.

Niall, Harry, Liam and Louis said that they would continue and record a new album, counting on the support of their fans at upcoming concerts.

Release of ''Drag Me Down'' and motivations for the end of 1D

After Zayn's departure, the quartet released the video for ''Drag Me Down'' on August 21, 2015. The song is one of the singles from the band's fifth studio album, ''Made In The A.M'' and is the first in the absence of Zayn Malik.

However, not everything was so good. This is because, on August 14th of the same year, long before the song's release, The Sun newspaper released information that the boyband would end, with the members' desire to invest in a solo career.

In 2020, during an interview, Niall Horan and Liam Payne stated that the end of the group was in fact due to the members' fatigue. One Direction had a vast amount of tours and albums to work on.

Liam Payne told Jordan Stephens' Spotify podcast: ''(…) I think the danger zone was in the band. And in fact, what probably caused the disappearance, in the end, was exhaustion more than anything. Everyone makes stupid decisions when they're tired'', said Payne.

On June 2nd of this year, the song titled ''Where We Are'' started circulating on social media. According to the profile responsible for the leak, the song would have been recorded in 2014, the same year that the boyband went on tour with ''Where We Are'', of the same name.

The factor was enough for directors to start raising expectations about a possible comeback for the boy band, which turned 13 on July 23rd.
