Mancha Alvi Verde protests against Palmeiras board

Palmeiras fans protest this Saturday (22) against the president, Leila Pereira, and the club’s director of football, Anderson Barros. The protest was held in front of the club’s headquarters and was organized by Mancha Alvi Verde, the team’s biggest fan base. Fans are impatient with a season below expectations and especially with the current management, which so far has not made any major signings.

Despite the support given to the players and the coaching staff, the fans are dissatisfied with the management of Leila Pereira and her director of football. Currently, the club is eliminated from the Copa do Brasil and occupies the sixth place in the Brasileirão, with 14 points of difference from the first place, Botafogo. However, what most bothers the fans is the lack of action to improve the squad.

Counting on the action taken this Saturday morning, there are already three protests in less than a month. During the screams of dissatisfaction from the organized crowd, it was possible to hear requests for the president to use the money in another way and that “help Abel”. Fans also took banners with phrases of dissatisfaction, in which it was possible to see “Leila Pereira, friend or enemy?”, “Lying Leila” It is “created by the poor, stolen by the rich“.

Lack of action in the ball market

Palmeiras is very shy in the market when it comes to signings this season. So far, ten players have been sold, with important names like the young defensive midfielder Danilo at the beginning of the year, and only two signings have arrived at the club. The transfer window closes on the 2nd of August.

In a note made available by official networks, Mancha Alvi Verde cites poor management, low performance and lack of signings.

“President Leila Pereira inherited a multi-champion Palmeiras and with finances up to date, and, counting on the goodwill of the fans, made promises that have already proved to be a decoy (…) Mancha Alvi Verde has been pointing out this risk since 2022, but they did not want to listen to us, and now the damage is already done. The Copa do Brasil is gone. The Brazilian was distant. 10 players have already left and only 2 have arrived. The signing window is coming to an end, and, while our rivals are getting stronger, Palmeiras is not signing anyone and is still at risk of losing one of its main players..”

Palmeiras faces Fortaleza this Saturday, the game will be at home, at the Allianz Parque stadium, at 4 pm (Brasília time). The game will be valid for the 16th match of the Brazilian Championship, and the club has a chance to win again after five games.
