Release Like a Dragon – In an interview with Masayoshi Yokoyama, head and executive producer of Ryo Ga Gotoku Studio, he said that there were a number of factors that contributed to releasing Like a Dragon: Ishin in the West, with one of them being Sucker Punch’s Ghost of Tsushima.

“We saw how well Ghost of Tsushima did and how it was about this very Japanese setting done by Americans, it gave us confidence that Ishin could do well in America as well,” Yokoyama told Fanbyte .

That statement may seem strange today, but there was a time when even bringing the main Yakuza games to the West was a challenge. Yakuza 5 itself came only after Sony intervened.

Yokoyama also said that Yakuza: Like a Dragon helped expand the franchise to many fans who never had the opportunity to play Ishin, and this also contributed to the decision to release the game outside of Japan.

Like a Dragon: Ishin will be available for PS5, Xbox Series, PS4, Xbox One and PC (Steam and Microsoft Store) on February 21, 2023. More details about the game can be found here and here .
