Return of Pato to São Paulo: Check schedule and when the player can debut

Alexandre Pato had his return confirmed by São Paulo last Friday (26), but the striker will still not be fit for this Saturday’s clash, at 9 pm (Brasília time), against Goiás, for the Brazilian Championship, in Morumbi.

Pato is in the final stages of recovery from surgery on his right knee and does not have all the necessary conditions to play in an official match. Dorival Júnior, however, will be able to count on the player in training in the coming days.

Alexandre Pato is in the transition phase with physical preparation. He goes to the pitch at the CT in Barra Funda, but does not participate in contact activities. According to investigation, this should start next week.

From then on, it will depend on the response that the player presents in training and on the recovery of his physical condition. The last time he entered the field was on August 13, 2022, for Orlando City, from the United States.

The expectation is that he will be related by Dorival between 15 and 20 days. The player himself already works with this deadline to be able to strengthen and return without the risk of a new injury.

As he was a free player on the market, with no ties to any club, Pato can be regularized by São Paulo at any time. This should also happen in the next few days.

Regarding enrollment in competitions, the striker will be able to enter the next phase of the Copa do Brasil, if Tricolor advances – they opened 2-0 in the first leg against Sport -, and also in the Copa Sudamericana – Tricolor is leader of Group D .

In the international tournament, he will have to take a place from a teammate. In the Brasileirão, he can enter at any time.

Pato begins his third spell at São Paulo. This time, he will have a contract until December 31 of this year, with the possibility of renewal for next season. The bond has productivity clauses.

The striker played for São Paulo between 2014 and 2015 and from 2019 to 2020: there are 136 games and 47 goals with the tricolor shirt.
