Lula has already met 11 times with full G7 leaders

For the seventh time, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) is invited to participate in meetings where the greatest economic powers in the world meet. He participated in meetings with 11 international leaders and ensured an official presence at the G7 summit.

Lula met with leaders such as the Prime Minister of Japan, Fumio Kishida; Emmanuel Macron, President of France and Prime Minister of Germany Olaf Scholz. He also met with Narendra Modi, leader of India, with whom Brazil has established closer relations.

The president of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, was also part of Lula’s meetings, with whom Brazil wants to create a so-called “Forest Summit” alongside the Democratic Republic of Congo, which intends to bring together countries that have very extensive areas of tropical forests.

The Brazilian president also participated in the G7 work meetings, in addition to the meetings in which the leaders of both sides meet in private. In work meetings, leaders discuss issues of interest to the group. In these meetings, Lula also sided with leaders he had not met particularly so far.

With “incompatible agendas”, Lula and Volodymyr Zelensky, president of Ukraine, have not yet held a bilateral meeting during the summit with the G7 leaders.

President Lula was to meet with the American president, Joe Biden, however, according to the Brazilian government, Biden would like to meet the heads of state of Brazil, India and Indonesia, however the agendas have not yet been coordinated.

The war in Ukraine was one of the main subjects of Lula’s 11 private meetings with G7 leaders. Issues such as environmental preservation, trade relations and the reorganization of world governance were also discussed.
