Meet Daxxify, a more durable product than botox

It was recently approved by the United States Food and Drugs Administration (FDA), the newest neuromodulator for the treatment of wrinkles. The injectable substance Daxxify, joins the other four neuromodulators already existing and approved by the FDA for aesthetic treatments, all use the same type of toxin, botulinum toxin type A, the best known among them is botox, but why is Daxi different?

Plastic surgeon, from New York, Sachin M. Shridharani clarifies some doubts about this new product, and according to him, the substance differs from its predecessors because of a peptide exchange technology, the Daxi formula does not contain human albumin or protein animal, “so, by the way it works, it tends to be very firm and last longer in that neuromuscular junction”, explains the doctor.

The differential that most attracted the public was durability, while botox lasts four months, although there are reports of patients who have already noticed even less durability, Daxi lasts six months, and the functionality is the same as botox, temporarily paralyze and relax the facial muscles, preventing them from creating and aggravating expression lines and wrinkles.

According to Coppola, what makes Daxi last longer in the body is the use of peptides formulated without any animal or human by-products, so it will stay longer before being absorbed and eliminated by the body’s normal processes. Therefore, this product is more expensive than botox, it is the same application methodology, however with an innovative technology that maintains the quality of the aesthetic procedure for longer.

Care when performing this aesthetic procedure is the same for any neuromodulator, it is important to consider the substance to be used and the duration that the patient expects, because unlike fillings with hyaluronic acid, which can be reversed immediately, the effects of toxins disappear slowly and gradually, so looking for an experienced professional is fundamental, both in the practical aspect for injecting the substance in the correct place, and one who is already familiar with the toxin, be it Daxi or Botox.

“Overall, neurotoxins have an excellent safety record and, to date, there is nothing to indicate this will be any different with Daxxify,” concludes Coppola.

It is important to emphasize that Daxi did not present different side effects, nor more intense than other toxins already approved by the FDA, they are: headache, reaction at the injection site, redness, itching, facial numbness, and in more severe cases, ptosis eyelid, known as drooping eyelids.
