PSG decide to trade Neymar in the mid-year transfer window, says French newspaper

The relationship between Paris Saint-Germain and Neymar may be coming to an end. According to information released by the French newspaper “L’Equipe” this Monday morning (8), PSG’s board intends to negotiate the star in the European summer window, in July, after the end of the current season.

Neymar, who has renewed his contract with the French club until 2027, would have to be sold for the bond to end. However, for not having a stipulated amount of a termination fine and receiving a high salary, Paris Saint-Germain understands the definitive negotiation as “difficult” and admits the possibility of loaning the Brazilian in the middle of the year.

In addition to the financial factor, the club that wants to count on Neymar from next season will have to deal with the physical issues of the athlete, who has been absent since February, when he sprained his right ankle and re-injured himself in the region, shortly after the injury suffered in the World Cup in Qatar, in December last year.

From then on, the star missed PSG in three competitions this season – Ligue 1, French Cup and UEFA Champions League – and reached the negative mark of more than a year lost due to injury time since joining the Parisian team in 2017 .

Even though he was out of action, Neymar was not spared the criticism of the fans and the protests of the most fervent, the so-called “ultras”, who occupied the street in front of the Brazilian’s house to protest against the player and the current phase of PSG.

According to the local press, the fact was crucial for both the player and the club to understand that the best thing for both is for the relationship to be interrupted. With the end of the season approaching, the expectation is that new negotiations will take place.
