Max Verstappen celebrates victory in Miami

This Sunday, the 7th, the driver Max Verstappen climbed the grid and won another stage in Formula 1 (F1) 2023, after starting ninth in the Miami GPwhich is a reflection of an error in the classification strategy, where he ran out of time in the Q3. According to information from “ge”such a task was not that difficult: on lap 15, the Dutchman was already in second place in Florida, behind only his teammate Sergio Perez. Max, after being asked about the satisfaction of winning once again, boasted of his own self-confidence.

A sky sportsthe driver said: “I always feel invincible. Sometimes other people have good days too, and they can catch up or match, or be ahead. The important thing is to try to be close to 100% every time. Yesterday (qualifying) wasn’t perfect, so the weekend wasn’t perfect. But it’s a long season, and I always try to be as close to perfect as possible.”.

The cited website showed that the Red Bull Racing (RBR) bet on different strategies, Verstappen started on hard tires and Sergio Pérez, like most of the top 10, on mediums. When the Mexican driver stopped on lap 21 to put on white belt tires, the two-time champion was lifted into the lead.

Max managed the tires well and ended up stretching the first stint until lap 46, at which point he pitted for the purpose of switching to the yellow belt fields.

Back on the track in second, Verstappen didn’t need much time to catch up with Checo and leave his teammate behind. Pérez, in turn, defended himself at turn 17, however Max lunged at the Mexican at the exit of turn 1, thus taking first place for good. With ten laps to go, the Dutchman gradually increased his advantage, the two finished with a difference of 5s384.

Verstappen completed by saying: “It was better than expected, I think. She was trying to figure out how long (the tires) were going to last at first; midway through the (first) stint, she wasn’t so sure. I was probably slower than I could have been, but it also made me faster at the end, so I was able to extend the lead again. When I made the pit stop, I was 1s, 1s5 behind (of Pérez). With newer compounds, you can pass”.

The Dutchman now has 119 points added, 14 more than Pérez. RBR absolutely dominates among construction companies, with 224 points. Aston Martin is second with 102.

In an interview after the race, Max Verstappen analyzed that it was a good race and that he stayed out of trouble at the beginning. He also said he managed to stay out of the pits for a long time on the hard tires and that made the difference. “Yesterday was a setback, today we kept calm. Winning from ninth place is very satisfying.”he said.

According to “ge”, Formula 1 returns on May 21 with the Emilia-Romagna GP, the sixth stage of the 2023 season.
