Rafa Kalimann appears in a luxurious crochet dress at the Cannes Film Festival

Rafa Kalimann was present for the second day at the Cannes Film Festival. The former BBB, presenter, model and actress honored the Brazilian production of Karim Aïnouz – “Firebrand”. With a burgundy look, with a waistline made in pink and red crochet (very Brazilian).

The designer piece is by the Lebanese Nicolas Jebran; Rafa completed the look wearing Paulo Teixeira jewelry. Production was handled by makeup by Charlotte Tilbury, and hair by Frank Provost.

In an interview for Vogue Brasil on Saturday (21), Rafa spoke about his time at an event as important as the Cannes festival. “I came last year and I remember watching a lot of everything that was going on and feeling very curious to understand which films were being nominated and how everything worked at the festival. Until the opportunity arose last year to be here and it was really nice. I came to understand how it works behind the scenes, beyond the glamor that we follow and watch”.

Rafa celebrates the representation achieved by women this year, the number of female directors at the Palme d’Or, award at the Cannes festival, has become a record. There are 19 nominations, six of which have women as directors. In addition to 31 Brazilians in the jury, which in Rafa’s opinion is a deserved space.

“This is a record, it’s an achievement, and I think it’s cool for us to talk about it. Tell about it, because it’s something that we’ve been building and are somehow reaping. It’s a big and important step”.

Crochet – the material used in the garment worn by the model is even part of her daily life, she has already been spotted several times using ‘crocheted’ pieces on beaches and events. And right now, it couldn’t be missed. Crochet provides income for several families in Brazil. This type of handicraft, whose origin is uncertain, began to become popular in the 1800s, when the Frenchwoman Riego de La Branchardiere created designs that could be easily reproduced.
