Good Marks Made in Adizero: Road to Records 2023

Event closed only to Adidas athletes at the brand’s headquarters generated good times, except for the half-marathon in which the brands were left to be desired

It happened today. 04/29/22, at the Adidas headquarters in Herzogenaurach, the third edition of the Adizero Road to Records event, with live transmission on the channel of youtube from the German brand (read here more details).

Contrary to what happened in the two other editions, such as those of 2021 and 22, there were no world record breaks, but there were good performances in national records, such as the best U20 year mark in the Ethiopian 5 km victory Medina Eisa (14:46), who arrived in front of the Senbere Teferi, the winner of the event for two consecutive years. The Brazilian Jenifer do Nascimento she was in tenth place in the race, completing in 16:10, very close to her personal record on an athletics track, which is 16:05. The 10 km race had an excellent performance by the Ethiopian Senayet Getachewwhich despite being in 5th place, made the best mark in the world under 20 years.

We also saw other favorites failing to win their races, as was the case with the Ethiopian Yomif Kejelchawho, due to an oversight, arrived behind birhanu balewfrom Bahrain, at the finish line of the men’s 5 km race with 13:06 (video below RunIX Instagram profile). This was also the case for the Kenyan Kibiwott Kandie, who was second in the 10 km, won by his compatriot Sabastian Sawe, which made 26:49, fifth best mark in history.

As it had happened in previous years, the 21 km race did not have relevant results with regard to the first team international elite standard, so I think they should cut the distance for the next editions, if they happen, Of course. See well. The first man in the half marathon won with 1:00:04. If it’s an event where we see a break in marks, I must remember that a cool men’s mark in the sock is something from 59 minutes down, as the men’s world record is 57:31. The women’s race of the 21 km saw the first woman win with 1:07:44, when the ideal would be to see something around 1:05, since the best mark in the world is 1:02:52.

In addition to the fact that the event is limited to athletes who are sponsored by the brand, there was also a certain limitation in relation to obtaining excellent results that honor the name of the event because the staff reported that the conditions were not the best, because of the wind and the route, which is done in a loop at the Adidas headquarters with many curves.
