PlayStation game of the month
At the end of the month, Afrilatest.com will discuss the most important games that have appeared. This time, Stray, Xenoblade Chronicles 3, As Dusk Falls, Coromon and Azure Striker Gunvolt 3 will be featured.
Stray
- Platforms: PlayStation 4 and 5, PC
- Score: 3.5 out of 5 stars
In Stray, you play a cat with all the skills of an average domestic cat. You clamber over rooftops, push cups off tables, and gradually explore a large, futuristic city.
That’s a lot of fun for most of the game. Stray exudes atmosphere and the environments are usually fun to explore. And although a cat as the protagonist may seem like a gimmick at first, the game is very original because of its alternative hero.
But we wish the makers had done a bit more with this concept. The cat sometimes feels like a somewhat forced character. For example, it is crazy that a pet wants to save a city and it feels a bit silly that he can talk to the city dwellers, because they happen to be robots. In addition, the game is not very long: after five hours you are through it.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3
- Platform: Nintendo Switch
- Score: 4 out of 5 stars
A grand, immersive role-playing game exclusive to Nintendo’s consoles. It takes quite a long time for Xenoblade to get going and explain all its game systems. But once this is done, this is one of the best roleplaying games for the Switch.

As Dusk Falls
- Platforms: Xbox One and Series, PC
- Score: 2 out of 5 stars
A specially designed, interactive adventure that explores the boundary between games and movies. You follow the story of two families, after a robbery has completely failed. The game revolves around the choices you make: do you flee or do you go into battle? Do you go left or do you go right?
That idea isn’t entirely new, and the story of As Dusk Falls is okay at best. But the drawing style in which everything is shown will hold your attention.
But at no point does the game manage to match or surpass genre peers. And as a film, the whole thing isn’t super strong either. This makes the game neither meat nor fish and at most interesting for a lost evening, provided you play it for free via a Game Pass subscription.
Coromon Hotels
- Platforms: Nintendo Switch, PC
- Score: 4 out of 5 stars
This Dutch game is very similar to the first Pokémon games. Here, too, you have to catch monsters and make them stronger and then take on others. The game was already there for the PC, but this month it also appeared on Nintendo Switch.
Coromon’s pixel style looks fantastic. Small animations on monsters make them look lively and not like two-dimensional, static pictures. Even the accompanying music seems to come from an old Pokémon game.
Coromon contains a few nice ideas. For example, stronger monsters in the wild have a slightly different color and you know faster whether they are worth catching. But at its core, this is an old-fashioned Pokémon. If that suits you, this is a must.
PlayStation game of the month
Azure Striker Gunvolt 3
- Platform: Nintendo Switch
- Score: 4 out of 5 stars
The creators of several classic Mega Man games have had a spiritual successor for a long time now. The third part of this was published this month. Azure Striker Gunvolt is a fast-paced, sleekly designed 2D action game, in which you only get a high score by traversing the game as quickly as possible.
Especially in battles with bosses, the game is challenging. You have to avoid complex attack patterns to get the maximum number of points. You can also ignore that and cross the game with low scores, but then you are quickly through it. This is a game for those who like to play the same levels several times to perfect them.
