This Sunday (16), Grêmio suffered another defeat in the Brazilian Championship, this time to Botafogo, 2-1, playing as home team, at Kleber Andrade, in Cariacica, Espírito Santo. Coach Renato Gaúcho asked the fans for patience and states that as long as the team plays away from the arena, the team will suffer and will have difficulties.
Comment from Renato Gaúcho
Due to the floods that devastated Rio Grande do Sul, Grêmio will not be able to play at home for a long time. This is one of the coach's justifications for the Gaucho club's poor campaign in the competition, which with the defeat at the weekend, entered the relegation zone.

Grêmio has just six points from seven games played, with just two wins and five defeats in the championship. The two games that were won were at Arena do Grêmio, before the tragedy. Since then, the two home games away from the stadium were defeats, to Botafogo, at Kleber Andrade and to Bragantino, at Couto Pereira.
“I will ask the fans for patience, as it will be like this throughout the first round, due to the difficulty of not playing at home. I believe that in the second round things will improve for our side”. – commented Renato Portaluppi
Return to Grêmio Arena
There is still no definitive date for when Grêmio will be able to use the Arena again. The club's president, Alberto Guerra, even spoke with the stadium's administrators, who have not yet announced a deadline for return.
It is worth remembering that CONMEBOL announced that for the first leg of the round of 16 of the Libertadores, the Arena will be the stadium where the confrontation will take place, in August. It is still possible for the match location to be changed by the federation
In the next round of the Brazilian Championship, on Wednesday (19), Grêmio will face Fortaleza, in Ceará, at Arena Castelão. The northeastern club currently occupies 12th place, with 10 points won.
