Legacy of Thieves Collection – It took a while, but finally Uncharted, one of Sony’s most popular franchises on PlayStation, made its PC debut with Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection, which features remasters of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy.
Sony has been doing a great job on computer ports, just look at the fantastic God of War (2018) and Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, which are easily the definitive versions of these games.
With Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection, this is no different. Those who have a good machine that meets at least the recommended configuration will be in front of a visual spectacle, with incredible graphics, with textures, shadows, reflections superior to those found on consoles.
In addition, there is support for Nvidia DLSS and AMD FSR 2 resolution scaling technologies, which frankly should come in all AAA games released today for PCs, as they allow you to considerably increase the frame rate per second.
Not everything is flowers, of course. The absence of Ray Tracing is unforgivable, being a missed opportunity to see how these games, which were already graphically radiant on PS4 and PS5, would look on PC with lighting and shadows equipped with this technology.
I also found that there are few graphical customization options compared to, for example, Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, also from Sony. It’s acceptable, but could be better.
Speaking of performance, in my time with the collection on the computer, using a machine equipped with a Ryzen 7 3800X, 2x8GB, NVMe x3 SSD, GeForce RTX 3070 and Windows 11, I had no problems keeping the frame rate at 60 fps or more full time in 1440p resolution using DLSS in quality mode, with graphics on Ultra.
On the other hand, locations with many NPCs, such as the beginning of the game in Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, for example, are processor-intensive, and may cause performance issues on less powerful PCs, which do not have a CPU that is at least the level from a newer Ryzen 7 or Core i7.
In places where most of the NPCs are just the enemies you face, the frame rate took off in my tests, even staying at 120 fps, with just a few exceptions, but never dropping below 60 fps.
Loadings, even with the game installed on the SSD, took a little longer here compared to the PS5, where the transition is almost instantaneous. In addition, the first time you run the game, a shader installation message appears, and it is strongly recommended that you wait for this to be completed before starting to play.
If you’re worried about whether you’ll understand the plot because you’ve never played the original trilogy on PS3, PS4 or PS5, don’t worry, you’ll still be able to enjoy these games with ease, since the stories of both don’t depend directly on the predecessors to be understood .
Conclusion
Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection is yet another great port from Sony for the PC. Although it has few graphic customization options and the absence of ray tracing, this ends up being compensated by the presence of DLSS and FSR technologies, which end up guaranteeing a performance gain if you have video cards that support it, being something essential to reach 60 fps with the best possible graphic quality.
