Haaland hits 50 goals in a season and makes history

This Sunday (30), Manchester City defeated Fulham away from home, by 2 to 1, taking over the leadership of the Premier League, overtaking the Arsenal team. Despite this, it was another event in the game that gained notoriety on the world stage.

Striker Erling Haaland scored the first goal of the match, at 3 minutes, with a penalty. With that goal, the Norwegian reached the incredible mark of 50 goals in a season, numbers that few players in the big European leagues have achieved in history.

That 50-goal mark is an astonishment in the big European leagues, achieved in addition to Haaland this season, by 5 more athletes in the last decade and by 3 more in the rest of history.

Gerd Muller in the 70’s managed to reach that mark twice, playing for Bayern Munich and Puskas once when he was still playing in Hungarian football. Jardel, for Porto, also achieved this mark twice, in the years 1999/2000 and 2001/2002, when he scored 56 and 55 goals respectively.

More recently, who managed to achieve this feat, was Ibrahimovic, in the 15/16 season, when he was playing for PSG, scoring exactly 50 goals; Lewandowski twice, when he scored 55 in the 19/20 season and 50 in the 21/22 season, playing for Bayern and Luis Suárez, scoring 59 in the 15/16 season for Barcelona.

In addition to them, we also need to mention Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, who reached 50 goals in a season, on some occasions. Each reaching the mark 6 times in their career.
