The Orange women easily won their second game at the Tournoi de France on Saturday. The team of national coach Mark Parsons was too strong for Finland in Le Havre with a young team: 3-0.
Caitlin Dijkstra opened the score halfway through the first half and scored her first international goal. The FC Twente defender found the goal after Finnish keeper Paula Myllyoja let a pass from Romée Leuchter slip under him.
Katja Snoeijs doubled the lead ten minutes before half time by heading in from a pass by Kayleigh van Dooren. Early in the second half, Snoeijs scored again after a good push from Van Dooren.
Parsons had made quite a few changes to his line-up compared to the opening game against Brazil, in which the Netherlands handed over a certain-seeming victory with a late and debatable penalty (1-1).
The Orange Women appeared at the kick-off with nine young players and the veterans Sherida Spits and Kika van Es. Goalkeeper Daphne van Domselaar and midfielder Van Dooren made their debut in the basic formation against Finland, the number 28 in the world.
Thanks to the victory over Finland, the Netherlands leads the Tournoi de France with four points. France and Brazil will play against each other later in the day. The kick-off for that match will be at 9:10 PM.

Parsons misses a number of players due to corona protocols
At the practice tournament in France, Parsons cannot rely on Joëlle Smits, Renate Jansen, Jill Roord, Dominique Janssen and Lynn Wilms due to the corona protocols. Daniëlle van de Donk and Shanice van de Sanden were already excluded from the selection due to injuries.
The Orange Women will close the Tournoi de France in Le Havre on Tuesday with a game against France. They will play two more World Cup qualifiers (with Cyprus and Belarus) in April before the European Championship starts in England.
It will be the first major tournament for the Orange Women under Parsons. The Netherlands won the European title in their own country in 2017 on the basis of Sarina Wiegman. Wiegman, now national team coach of England, last stood in front of the Orange women’s group during the Olympic Games last summer.
