Brazilian Earth observation and data collection satellite is launched in California
For the first time, a satellite Earth Observation and Data Collection developed by Brazilian industry is launched into space. Designed by Vision Space Technologyan association of Embratel with the TelebrasO nanosatellite VCUB1 was launched early on Saturday (15), in California (USA), with the aim of validating the potential of the Brazilian industry in more advanced projects of space technology.
The event is part of the mission transporter 7, responsible for taking small satellites of commercial and government customers into orbit. After being transported by the rocket Falcon 9O VCUB1 would enter a stabilization process. This innovation allows Visiona to test the operation of the national software inserted in the coupled computer, from the on-board data management system, telemetry — remote measurement and communication of information between systems — and orbit and altitude control. Information that will be generated for the satellites of the Brazilian Space Program.
Among the important characteristics of the material, the ability to collect “images with high exposure and radiometric and geometric quality not found in this class of satellites”, as described by Vision. The improved resolution will be beneficial for monitoring environmental conditions at a high standard and practicing intelligence and defense missions, for example.
“The launch of VCUB1 is historic for the Brazilian aerospace industry because it places the country in a select group of nations that dominate the entire satellite development process and enables us to fly even higher“, says J.João Paulo Campospresident of Visiona Tecnologia Espacial.

On the company’s website, it is possible to check the satellite’s execution process, records of some execution stages and technical characteristics of the material already launched into space.
O SENAI Institute of Innovation and the Brazilian Company for Industrial Research and Innovation (EMBPII) were some of the names that financially supported this project.
