Ronnie Von Claims He Was Emotionally Crippled After Rita Lee’s Death

The presenter Ronnie Von, was a friend of the singer Rita Lee for 57 years. He attended the artist’s wake, which took place this Wednesday (10), at the planetarium in Ibirapuera Park, in São Paulo. Von recalled the last moments he lived alongside the rock star, who died last Monday night (8) at the age of 75 from lung cancer.

The presenter said that in one of the last conversations with the artist, Rita asked him to record a song for her.

“It was now, when she was sick. She wanted me to record her song. She also wanted a flower named after me, an orchid. And I recorded the music she wanted to be just for her. ‘Only you’ is the name. I sent my flower along with the disc and she responded beautifully”, said Ronnie.

Ronnie Von commented on the friendship and memories collected with the singer. They met when Ronnie was 21 and she was 17, so their friendship lasted about 57 years.

The presenter revealed that he had a habit of taking care of plants alongside his friend, including the last time they were together he presented her with an orchid that bears his name, still not blooming. Even with the flower still not blooming, he promised her that it would happen in September, but there was no time.

“I’m bad, it still hasn’t sunk in. Emotionally crippled, I don’t want to believe”, vented Ronnie.

Rita Lee treated lung cancer and had her death announced by her family through social networks. She died last Monday (8) and the news was published on Tuesday (9). The last record published on social media was a post made by Roberto de Carvalho, her husband, while they watched the tribute paid on the Altas Horas program, presented by Serginho Groisman.
