The 56th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 took place between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. It is fair to say that the game was all about young Yashasvi Jaiswal as he batted exceptionally well and won the game for his side.

According to Yashasvi Jaiswal’s innings, the target of 150 was made to look like just 50. He went full force in the first over scoring 26 runs to take his side off the fliers.

The way Yashasvi Jaiswal batted, a century was on the cards for him. But due to the low target, he could not reach his ton. But RR skipper Sanju Samsam made every effort to see the young batsman reach his hundred.

With just 3 runs needed, it looked like KKR spinner Suyash Sharma deliberately lofted the ball down the ground. But Sanju Samson somehow managed to defend by putting the bat on him. He then indicated to Jaiswal to hit the first ball of the next over for a six. The youngster though could not manage the maximum but ended the game with a boundary.

KKR vs RR: “We are used to it now,” Sanju Samson on Yashasvi Jaiswal

Yashasvi Jaiswal scored an unbeaten 98 runs. He batted with a strike rate of 208.51 and hit 13 fours and 5 sixes in his innings while skipper Sanju Samson remained unbeaten on 48 as RR secured a 9-wicket win.

Sanju Samson lauded Yashasvi Jaiswal for his brilliant knock and said he is used to it now. Speaking at the post-match presentation, he said:

“I had nothing to do today. Just put the bat on the ball and watch it play. We are used to it now, even the bowlers know how to go into the powerplay. He enjoys batting in the powerplay.

With the win over KKR, RR moved to the third spot on the points table. They will next be seen in action when they take on Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Sunday (May 14).
