Bruno Guimarães and Newcastle United are looking forward to playing in the Champions League

Making a campaign like many seasons have not seen, the traditional Newcastle is getting closer to getting a qualification for the next UEFA Champions League. With the Brazilian Bruno Guimarães in its squad, the Magpies currently occupy the 3rd place in the Premier League.

One of the most traditional teams in the country, Newcastle United was founded in 1892 and has achieved important achievements throughout its history (4x First Division champion and 6x FA Cup champion). However, after years in decline, the club from the north of the country was acquired in 2021 by the Saudi Arabian investment fund (for the equivalent of 300 million pounds) which changed the club’s level and made the Magpies the “new rich” in the world of football.

Hired in January 2022 to be one of the pillars of this new Newcastle, Brazilian Bruno Guimarães quickly adapted to the style of play implemented by coach Eddie Howe and fell in favor of the fans.
In the current season, Bruno is one of the leaders of the squad and has one of the highest ratings of the club on the Sofascore website (which evaluates the performances of athletes from different championships around the world). Altogether, the athlete who is a child of the Athletico-PR base has already played 30 games for the Premier League, having scored 04 goals and distributed 05 assists.

In an interview, Bruno commented on the expectation of playing in the Champions League for Newcastle:

“Happy to score again (one of the goals in the 4-1 victory of the alvinegro club over Brighton in the last round), but mainly for winning the three points. May we close this season with a golden key and with the objective completed: getting Newcastle back into the Champions League. It is our obsession and we will spare no effort to make it happen. It will be important for the city, fans and the club’s long-term project.”

The Premier League is in its final rounds and Bruno Guimarães’ Newcastle is getting closer and closer to playing in the main European competition on the continent, something that hasn’t happened since the 2002/03 season.
