However, the minister’s appearance drew criticism from her government colleagues.

Marlène Schiappa, in the magazine, posed wearing several designer clothes, gave a 12-page interview about women’s rights and said that women should do “exactly what you want”.

To a local TV channel, the minister said that women’s bodies should be exposed anywhere.

The French Minister of Social Economy, on a social network, said she defended the right of women to do whatever they want with their own bodies anywhere and at any time. “In France, women are free, no matter if it bothers retrogrades and hypocrites”he said.

Schiappa frequently appears as a guest on French TV talk shows. Before becoming a minister, she was a writer and published books on the challenges of motherhood, women’s health and pregnancy as well.

In 2018, when she was Minister for Equal Rights, Marlène Schiappa managed to pass laws to make street harassment illegal.

As detailed by “g1”, France is currently experiencing a controversy involving decisions by the government of Emmanuel Macron, which managed to approve changes in the form of Social Security. One of the main points of this project is the increase in the minimum retirement age from 62 to 64 years.

As for the criticisms from government colleagues, Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne told Schiappa that the decision “was not appropriate, especially in the current period”. Green Party parliamentarian Sandrine Rousseau also questioned the minister’s decision.

In the year 2010, Marlène Schiappa wrote a book containing sex tips for overweight people. Because of this, there were critics who understood that her text ended up reinforcing clichés linked to people suffering from obesity.
