Infantino announces move to 2026 World Cup; check out

This Thursday, the 18th, in an event held in Los Angeles, Gianni Infantino, president of FIFA, presented an important change for the 2026 World Cup

The revelation was made by the president of the fifa, Gianni Infantino.

At an event about the competition, held in Los Angeles, the entity’s president made the revelation, in addition to disclosing the official logo of the next World Cup. Regarding the measure of dividing the teams by regions, Infantino stated that the measure had to be taken due to the magnitude of the tournament, which promises to be the biggest in history.

Addressing the distances between the host cities, Infantino raised the trio of countries to a continental level. “It’s a continent: three countries and not three small countries, three big countries. The distances, the times, the climatic differences too: altitude in Mexico, sea level elsewhere”said the leader AFP.

FIFA took this attitude, seeking to bring a more pleasant environment for fans, who will face a reality very different from what happened in Qatar, in 2022. For the first time, the 2026 World Cup will have 48 participating teams, the largest number of teams since the foundation of the competition. In addition, the three host countries are also a novelty, as this has not happened since the inaugural edition. At first, the tournament is scheduled to start on the 11th of June, with the grand final scheduled for the 19th of July.
