Curitiba Marathon has a confirmed date and continues with excellent awards

Last year, the Curitiba race had the highest award for the 42 km in Brazil and will no longer be held on a Wednesday as previously announced.

A Rio de Janeiro Marathon it may have surpassed the figures for this year’s Curitiba Marathon awards, but that does not mean that the Paraná race is disappointing in this regard. The total prize pool of R$ 192,000 was maintained to be distributed over the 42 km and 21 km, with most of it going to those who compete in the marathon, as a way of valuing the race that bears the name of the event. First place will receive R$40,000, second place will receive R$20,000, R$11,000 (3rd place), R$7 (4th place) and R$4,000 (5th place). The winners of the sock get BRL 3 thousand, the runners-up receive BRL 1,600, BRL 1,000 (3), BRL 800 (4) and BRL 600 (5), in addition to prizes for wheelchair users and the visually impaired in the 42 km.

The high prize pool last year attracted the debut in the distance, and with victory, of Altobeli Silva (Photograph), who completed the race in 2:18:13. The women’s race was sold by the gaúcha marlei willerswith 2:47:58.

Unlike what had been announced at the end of 2022, the Curitiba Marathon will no longer be held on November 15th, a Wednesday, and returns to the traditional third Sunday of November, the 19th of November. Thankfully, someone was reasonable enough at City Hall to understand that a midweek marathon would not attract out-of-town runners and the potential economic impact of the race would be very low.
