Duel of the Leaders! Who will win the historic showdown?

This Sunday (9) Grêmio and Botafogo face each other for the 14th round of the Brazilian Championship, at 6:30 pm (Brasília time) at the Arena do Grêmio.

The game marks the duel of the leader against the deputy leader. Botafogo leads alone with 33 points, while Grêmio has 26 points. A very interesting detail between the two teams stands out: Grêmio is the only Serie A team that has not lost at home this year, and Botafogo is the best away team in the league.

The last defeat of tricolor gaucho at home it was in August last year, when it was defeated by Ituano by 1-0 in a game valid for the series B. At the time, the team was led by Roger Machado, who was fired days later and replaced by Renato Gaúcho.

Since then, under the command of Renato, who took over in September, Grêmio has had a good record at home. Altogether there are 23 games, having obtained 19 wins and five draws. A detail to be remembered is the game of the first round of the Brazilian against Santos, held at the Alfredo Jaconi Stadium in Caxias do Sul, home of Juventude. On the occasion, the tricolor fulfilled a punishment by the STJD, due to a confusion of fans inside the Arena.

In this year’s Campeonato Brasileiro, Grêmio joins Fluminense, Fortaleza and their opponents on Sunday, Botafogo, as the only teams yet to lose playing at home. The expectation is Full house for the big game of the weekend. The initial projection is for 45,000 people, and so far the team from Rio Grande do Sul has confirmed that 23,000 tickets have been sold. Until then, the biggest audience of the year in the arena was in the final of the Campeonato Gaucho against Caxias, with 51, 556 fans.
