F1 23 arrives on June 16 with improved gameplay and story mode

Electronic Arts has announced that F1 23 will be released on June 16 for PS5, Xbox Series, PS4, Xbox One and PC (Steam, EA App and Epic Games Store), bringing gameplay improvements over its predecessor and the return of story mode Braking Point.

“The return of Braking Point allows players to immerse themselves in a racing story that offers a unique take on F1 alongside the authentic racing features our players know and love,” said Lee Mather, Senior Creative Director at Codemasters . “Our close relationship with the teams has allowed us to refine our handling model, adding greater realism to pad-play and implementing a new color-coding system used in film and TV, creating a more realistic experience.”

Breakpoint returns for a new chapter following the careers of young upstart Aiden Jackson and protagonist Devon Butler, now teammates at the Konnersport Racing Team, a fledgling organization hoping to succeed against current real-world F1 teams and drivers. Adding a host of new characters, new rivalries and racing challenges, both aim to take their careers to the next level, but there will be twists and pitfalls along the way.

According to EA, F1 23’s vehicle handling has been updated from last season, allowing for more predictable behavior, and new vehicle physics give the cars better traction when braking, accelerating and cornering. By incorporating real feedback from the F1 team, a better balance between aerodynamics and tire grip promises to result in a more realistic feel. Improvements to engine torque and inertia also aim to ensure throttle control is more authentic and offers a greater level of connection to the car. Alongside these improvements, Precision Drive controller technology will come to give pad players better control and confidence in crucial race moments.

Finally, the introduction of the F1 World hub offers a new experience with content inspired by the real world calendar. Helping to introduce players to the complex world of Formula 1, F1 World brings together several game modes, including Time Trial and Grand Prix, offering a new way to play. A new progression system allows players to level up by completing challenges to unlock car upgrades, new liveries, race suits and helmets. A new safety rating system links online and offline play, encouraging racers to race cleanly. This system also helps to pair like-minded drivers more efficiently to improve online racing.

The F1 23 Champions Edition (digital only) comes with limited Las Vegas content (on pre-order until May 31st), Max Verstappen Racing Outfit Pack, 2 Brake Spot Icons and Cosmetic Item Pack, Dual Version (only PlayStation and Xbox), four new My Team Icons, an XP Boost, F1 World Impact Pack, 18,000 PitCoin and three days early access starting June 13th.
