Hogwarts Legacy was the bestseller in Europe in the 1st half of 2023

Hogwarts Legacy lay down and rolled in sales in Europe during the 1st half of 2023, according to data from the market analysis company GSD released by GI.biz. The game, released in February, sold 69% more than Elden Ring, which was the best-selling title during the first six months of 2022 and which also came out in February.

Despite only being released in June, Diablo IV was the second biggest launch of the year on the European continent. Blizzard recently said that over 10 million people played the game last month.

FIFA 23 ranked third, with its sales being 24% higher than FIFA 22 in the same period.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom only appears in 4th place. This is due to the fact that Nintendo does not share digital sales data with GSD, so only sales of physical copies were counted. Taking only them into account, Zelda was the best-selling physical game in the 1st half of 2023.

Rounding out the top 10 are GTA 5 in 5th place, followed by Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Red Dead Redemption 2, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, NBA 2K23 and Resident Evil 4.

The UK was the biggest game sales market with 15.3 million sold, followed by Germany with 14 million, France with 11.1 million, Spain with 5.4 million and Italy with 4.9 million.
