“The Rapture” cast protests Johnny Depp at Cannes

The first film chosen to be shown at Cannes was the controversial ‘Jeanne du Barry’, with the actor Johnny Depp. In the film, Depp plays King Louis XV in 17th-century Versailles and the film’s controversial director, Maiwennwith whom the actor was seen arm in arm during the event, plays the protagonist who bears the same name in the film, a courtesan and the king’s favorite lover.

After all the legal controversy involving the name of the actor and his ex-wife, Amber Heard, this is the first feature starring Depp. Amber sued Depp for assault and had to pay damages to him for defamation.

Depp was applauded by the public when he reached the Palace of Festivals along with the film crew. He took selfies, signed autographs and received affection from residents of nearby buildings, who held signs supporting the actor. However, Depp was afraid of protests at the event, which, in fact, happened.

Although it was quietly, part of the film’s crew “The Rapture protested against the actor. Some of the team were wearing a T-shirt with the image of Amber Heard as a form of protest against Depp.
