Ukrainian army uses Steam Deck to remotely control machine gun turrets

The Ukrainian Army has found a new way to use the Steam Deck as part of its military operations. Valve’s handheld PC is being used to remotely control machine gun turrets on the front lines.

As disclosed by pc gamera video from TRO Media (below) demonstrated Ukrainian soldiers working with the “Shabyla” (Ukrainian for sabre) turret, which is operated remotely with a Steam Deck.

Those who are in the habit of playing Call of Duty probably already know that remotely controlled armed turrets are quite useful in combat, as they allow attacking enemies without directly exposing the weapon’s operator.

At $399 for the base model, it’s potentially cheaper to use a Steam Deck for this than custom-built control modules for this type of operation.
