Halo Infinite Chief Creative Officer Joseph Staten Leaving Microsoft

Joseph Staten, chief creative officer of Halo Infinite0, and also writer and cinematographer of Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, and Halo 3, has announced that he will be leaving Microsoft.

“Hey guys, I’m really leaving Microsoft,” Staten said in the twitter. “I’ll have more information to share soon, but for now I’d just like to thank all my colleagues at Xbox for all their understanding and support as we embark on a new adventure.”

A Microsoft spokesperson gave the following statement in this regard: “We are grateful for Joseph’s contributions to the Halo franchise and Xbox as a whole. We wish him all the best on his new adventure.”

Staten had left Bungie to serve at Microsoft as a senior creative director, but was not involved with Halo. However, in 2020 he returned to work on Halo as the lead campaign project for Halo Infinite and later as the lead creative, overseeing the game. After that, he returned to work at Xbox Publishing earlier this year, at the same time that Microsoft announced the layoff of 10,000 employees, including members of the 343 Industries studio.
