King Charles III: coronation will have relic of the cross of Jesus Christ

A Vera Cruz (from Latin, true cross), is glued to a piece of silver, one of the fragments is 1 centimeter, and the other, 5 millimeters, they were molded into a kind of crystal dome and fixed in the center of the silver piece.

The play received the blessing of the Anglican Archbishop, Andrew John in Wales, last Wednesday (19).

The artifact will be used at the opening of the fashion show, at the Westminster Abbey, in London, which will mark the beginning of the coronation of the heir to the British throne, which will take place between May 6th and 8th, 2023; part of the ceremony will be broadcast live.

After the coronation ceremony, the True Cross will be shared between the Catholic and Anglican churches in Wales.

King Charles III is the eldest son of Queen Elizabeth II who died aged 96 in September 2022, being the longest-reigning monarch in the history of England.

Curiosities about the Relic of the True Cross

In history, as mentioned in several books by writers and historians, such as Tiago de Voragine, in the book “Golden Legend” of the eighth century, indicates that Helenamother of Constantine — Roman emperor who imposed Christianity as a religion in the empire —, was sent by his son to find the cross of Christ, Helena would have been taken to a place near Mount Golgotha, where supposedly Christ was crucified, and there three crosses were found.

There are several fragments, supposedly of the cross of Jesus Christ, scattered around the world. And one of them is here in Brazil, in National Sanctuary of Our Lady of Aparecidain the city of Aparecida, in São Paulo.

The piece of wood was sent to the country in 1963, in a ceremony held by Dom Antonio Ferreira, who brought it directly authenticated from Rome, Italy. The artifact is 119 meters high, above the cross at the top of the Basilica Tower.

Still on Vera Cruz, there is no certainty about the veracity of the pieces, as the fragments are more than 3,000 years old.
