PRF decides to return with blitz investigations related to the 2nd round of the 2022 election period

This Wednesday (19), the shelving of one of the parties referring to the investigations about the operation of the corporation within the turn of last year’s elections, ended up being annulled by the direction of the PRF (Federal Highway Police).

On October 30, 2022, roadblocks were organized by the federal highway police, affecting the movement of voters amid the dispute between Jair Bolsonaro (PL) and the current President of the Republic, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) , who remained ahead against the former president.

However, the investigation in focus was again resumed by the PRF due to certain technical gaps in the previous investigation, in addition to other facts related to the former corporation inspector who last week was exonerated from his position.

The former Inspector General, Wendel Benevides Matos, ordered that the investigation be partially archived, despite the fact that the PRF investigated internally regarding the performance on that Sunday in question.

In this case, the argument used was that only five states should continue with investigations related to blitzes, since irregularities had not been found in all Brazilian regions. However, the current leadership of the Federal Highway Police disagrees with this decision and continues to carry out a complete investigation of the case, advancing the blitz action in each of the states.

As the process progresses, Silvinei Vasquez, the person responsible for operating the roadblocks and former general director of the Federal Highway Police (PRF), is being investigated. According to the investigations carried out by CNN, the members belonging to the new summit formed believe that in the process the ex-inspector may have chosen to spare the ex-director.
