Millennial men are the ones who seek plastic surgery the most

For men today, taking care of appearance is as important as it is for women, so it is no longer news that men are increasingly interested in aesthetic procedures. According to the SBCP (Brazilian Society of Plastic Surgery), over a period of 5 years, men seeking surgery increased from 72,000 to 276,000 per year, an average of 31.5 procedures per hour, and in a survey conducted by the American Academy of Easy Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery most men who said they would undergo a procedure are between 25 and 34 years old.

One of the main reasons that lead men of the Y generation to go through the surgical center is the search to feel better about their appearance and among the surgeries are rhinoplasty, otoplasty and Gynecomastia, better known also as breast reduction, which despite not being if they develop in men, some may appear due to hormonal changes or being overweight. “It may not matter, but it causes great aesthetic and emotional discomfort. It hurts what some call masculinity”, says Arnaldo Korn, director of the National Center – Plastic Surgery.

Another factor that can lead men aged 25 to 34 to undergo cosmetic procedures is alopecia, also known as baldness. The problem can harm men’s self-esteem and, according to Korn, the first signs can appear around the age of 18 with continuous or irregular evolution. “First of all, it is first necessary to identify the type of alopecia, to know if it is curable and what type of treatment is appropriate”.
