PlayStation 5 gets support,

Sony is adding support for variable refresh rates to the PlayStation 5 this week. This should improve visual performance, namely by making the image move more smoothly and without stuttering.

In a blog post, Sony CEO Hideaki Nishino writes that the support will be released worldwide this week. To use the variable refresh rate, in addition to a PlayStation 5, a TV or monitor is also needed that supports the technology and is equipped with an HDMI 2.1 input.

With the technique, the number of images that are broadcast on the television is adjusted to the number that is transmitted by the PlayStation.

If the frame rate of a graphics card lags behind the speed of a TV, there are hiccups or errors in the image.
