‘We have to talk about forgiveness’, says Iris Abravanel about The Childhood of Romeo and Juliet

The first co-production resulting from the agreement between Prime Video and SBT, “The Childhood of Romeo and Juliet”, already has a premiere date: May 8, with the first five episodes available on streaming on that date. It is explained that, on the same day, at 8:30 pm, SBT shows the premiere episode on open TV and the other four will be released daily. As of May 12th, the public will be able to check out the next five episodes, weekly, on Fridays, on Prime Video.

Iris commented: “At 75 years old, my mind is always alive. What motivates me the most to write is, in addition to creating jobs, it can also bring joy to people. In this story, let’s talk about the importance of forgiveness. Sometimes we get hurt by someone and that only makes us feel bad, we even get sick. Forgiveness is difficult, but important. Life is a gift in our lives and we have to bring joy to everyone around us.”

In the story, Romeu Monteiro and Julieta Campos live on opposite sides of the same neighborhood. When they meet, the connection is instantaneous and a beautiful and pure feeling is born between them. However, they soon discover that they are from enemy families and rival gangs, not even a friendship would be possible between them. Together, they decide to find a way to put an end to their friends’ feuds and resolve past misunderstandings to seal peace between the families.

With Miguel Ângelo as Romeu – a rich and overprotected boy who trains to be a tennis player -, and Vittoria Seixas as Julieta – an adventurous girl who likes to skate and hides her romantic side -, the project also has names like André Matos playing Faust; Fábio Ventura in the role of Bernardo Monteiro, father of Romeu; Bianca Rinaldi, as Vera Monteiro, Romeu’s mother; Karin Hils, as Gláucia, Romeo’s manipulative aunt; Lú Grimaldi as Clara Campos, Julieta’s grandmother and confidant; and Luiz Guilherme, as Hélio, Julieta’s grandfather and coach at the sports center in the Castanheiras neighborhood, where the telenovela takes place.
