Hypertension affects 38 million Brazilians and the rate grows 3.7% in the last 15 years

The 26th is the National Day for the Prevention and Combat of Hypertension, created with the aim of making the population aware of the disease that affects a large part of the country.

Arterial hypertension, or popularly called ‘high blood pressure’, affects 35% of the Brazilian population and is the main risk factor for cardiovascular diseases, such as heart attacks and strokes. However, half of these patients do not realize that they have the disease. In many cases, symptoms are silent and people take years to discover the problem, and often they only discover it when something more serious happens.

Hypertension cannot be cured, but it can and should be treated and controlled through changes in lifestyle, balanced diet and, when necessary, use of medication.

Recently released, the new Brazilian guideline on arterial hypertension places the adoption of healthy habits, in particular a balanced diet, as a protagonist in the effort to prevent and control high blood pressure.

Therefore, adopting a healthy diet rich in vegetables, fibers and bioactive compounds is essential for weight control, blood pressure, adequate cholesterol and glucose levels. A diet based on natural foods has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. In addition, avoiding excess salt when cooking and not consuming ultra-processed foods, most of which are already high in salt, is essential.

Frequent intake of certain food groups is even capable of reversing possible damage to health. Bio Mundo, a chain of natural products and sports nutrition stores, felt that in recent years, the public with the disease has increased considerably. “We felt a great impact on the growth of the public with hypertension. The indication for a healthy diet by nutritionists has increased more and more after the positive reflexes that a new food routine can provide,” says Edmar Mothé, CEO of Bio Mundo.

Edmar explains that the store’s consultants are asked on a daily basis about the most suitable products for these cases. “Our attendants are qualified and trained to guide the customer about all the products in the store. Whether their diversity or their properties. We take great care in helping each customer, solving all doubts and providing the best product,” he continues.

They have anti-inflammatory properties, are a source of magnesium, vitamin E, calcium and flavonoids, act to reduce LDL cholesterol, triglycerides and blood pressure. These items are found in bulk at Bio Mundo units, where you can buy only the desired amount.

Omega 3: the substance brings many benefits to cardiovascular health, acts to improve cholesterol levels, reduces triglyceride levels, peroxidation of LDL, improves cardiovascular inflammation. Studies show that in patients at cardiovascular risk, supplementation with 2 to 4 grams of EPA/DHA per day can reduce triglyceride levels by up to 30%.

Vitamin B12: the deficiency of this vitamin is related to the formation of blood clots, vascular damage and the development of cardiovascular diseases, mainly because it is related to the increase in the level of homocysteine, an important marker of cardiovascular risk.

Both omega 3 and vitamin B12 are found in Bio Mundo through its own brand. The two components are sold in capsules of 120 and 60 pills, respectively, and can be administered as requested by the doctor or according to the packaging.
