Elden Ring

The latest game from the makers of Dark Souls, among others. The story was co-written by the author of Game of Thrones, although we didn’t really notice much of it in practice: both the world and what happens in it, mainly resemble previous Souls games.
Elden Ring, like its predecessors, is an extraordinarily tricky game. But where you got stuck in Dark Souls when a tricky piece didn’t work out, Elden Ring has a giant open world that you can explore freely. This makes the game significantly less frustrating, without immediately becoming easier.

Horizon Forbidden West

- Score: 4.5 out of 5 stars
The largest media production ever made in the Netherlands, and the sequel to horizon zero dawn, published five years earlier. You play as Aloy, a young hunter who must discover how the modern world once perished and where all the robot dinosaurs come from.
The Amsterdam developer Guerrilla Games continues the story of Zero Dawn with this new part. Good news for anyone who wants to unravel the mysteries from that game, but it makes the story a bit confusing for newcomers. But even then, Forbidden West is a giant, visually stunning open world to explore.

Destiny 2: The Witch Queen
- Platform: pc, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, Stadia
- Score: 4 out of 5 stars
The latest expansion pack for online shooting game Destiny 2, in which you have to take on the leader of the mysterious Hive aliens this time. She has somehow mastered the powers that the heroes normally use, allowing her soldiers to come back to life just like you.
At its core, The Witch Queen is similar to many other Destiny expansions. You’ll have a series of new dungeons to traverse with friends or random players as your character grows stronger along the way. New is the possibility to put together a weapon yourself and help it grow, so you decide how this works exactly.
The Witch Queen’s strongest point, however, is in the story: once again, you have a series of missions that tell what happened in the game universe, but this time it’s bigger and more immersive than ever.
It brings Destiny to the level of the story campaigns in games like Halo and Call of Duty, although unfortunately it’s all over pretty quickly.
sifu
- Platform: PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5
- Score: 4 out of 5 stars
Sifu is a martial arts film pur sang. The game kicks off with a group of villains killing your father and sensei, after which your character vows to take revenge and train himself to be a killing machine.
Then you go on a series of levels to beat up a lot of opponents until you reach and kill one of the bosses.
Fighting is almost the only thing you do, but the underlying combat system is very strong. By blocking, bending down and jumping to the side, you avoid attacks, while looking for an opening to fight your enemy. Even simple henchmen can knock you out, so you have to keep paying attention.
If you die, it’s not immediately game over. Instead, your character gets a few years older, with his clout improving but also being able to take fewer hits. Only when you are too old to fight or die too often in a row, you will be taken out of the level.
However, that can happen quickly: this is a rather tricky game that requires a lot of your patience and reflexes.
